Halyard Labs is an AI and software consultancy based in Sydney, Australia. We work at the intersection of AI, product and engineering, helping teams ship real improvements to their process, productivity and output. Every engagement is led by our principal, and we draw on a trusted network of senior engineers, designers and operators when the work calls for it. Alongside consulting, Halyard Labs owns and operates a portfolio of software companies.

Alex has spent the last decade in software engineering and product leadership — at Atlassian, The Guardian, Kayo and most recently as the founding product and engineering lead at Lorikeet, helping build an AI-powered platform from pre-revenue to Series B. Alex leads every Halyard Labs engagement personally.

Pat Barlow

Partner

Pat likes figuring out complicated problems and making them simpler. His background spans customer support, product operations and, most recently, implementing AI systems with customers as a forward deployed engineer at Lorikeet. Before that he spent three years at Dovetail, building and leading the support team across Sydney and San Francisco and running product operations, after starting out in operations at Klarna. Along the way he has worked closely with product and engineering, and spoken about the changing role of AI in customer experience.

Pat does his best work somewhere between customers, product and technology: understanding what someone is actually trying to achieve, getting into the details, and figuring out how to make it work in the real world.
